Job description

About us

Solirius Consulting delivers technical consultancy and application delivery to our clients in order to solve real world problems and allow our clients to respond to an ever-changing technical landscape. We partner closely with our clients, embedding our consultants into their businesses in order to provide a bespoke service, allowing us to truly understand our clients’ needs.

It is this close collaboration with our clients that has enabled us to grow rapidly in recent years and will drive our ambitious future growth plans. We currently have over 250 consultants working with a variety of key clients from both the public and private sectors such as the Ministry of Justice, Department for Education, FCDOS, UEFA, International Olympic Committee and Mercedes Benz; with plans to increase our client base further in the near future.

We operate as a flat organisation and believe in trusting and supporting our team to operate independently. We pride ourselves on being specialists at what we do, making the most of our consultants’ expertise in their fields in order to provide a best-in-class service to our clients. All our consultants have the opportunity to work on a range of different projects, providing a broad range of knowledge on which to develop their careers and progress in the direction they choose.

The role

We find that our business consultants in the highest demand have a very broad knowledge base, and at least some experience in all areas (but are likely to have specialist knowledge in one or two). We recognise that graduates may not yet know where they want to specialise, so to help you decide your ideal pathway and give you a breadth of experience, you will have the opportunity to try different roles on different projects before honing in on your chosen specialisms.

Typically you will work on a particular project for 6-12 months before moving on to a new challenge. You will be part of a larger team, working with and learning from experienced consultants. As a business consultant, naturally, you will work closely with our clients, helping to ensure that the project delivers great outcomes.

As well as on-the-job support from our senior consultants, you will also take part in a structured training plan consisting of in-person and virtual training courses. Your training plan will be flexible to your chosen pathway. When completed, you will be a well-rounded Technology Business Consultant and well on your way to becoming a specialist in your chosen areas. The goal for our graduates is to be progressing to the Consultant level, be delivering great results for our clients, and be on the pathway to becoming a leader in your area within 18 months.

Some areas you may specialise in include:

  • Product and service management

  • Business architecture

  • Service design

  • Business and systems analysis

Candidates should be open to working in different locations for different clients. Although most of our work is in London, candidates should be happy to travel as client needs dictate.

Main duties

As a Technology Business Consultant you will be:

  • Working across a range of sectors, clients, and projects to address challenges for our clients.

  • Bridging the gap between technology and business needs. Applying your technical awareness together with your communication and problem-solving skills to understand and solve the route of our client’s problems.

  • Ensuring that technology is applied correctly, provides a great user experience, and is accessible to all who need it.

  • Working closely with users to understand their needs and pain points, before translating this understanding into agile work items for our technical experts to deliver on.

  • Applying your general technical skills and knowledge to influence and direct technology decision-making.

About you

Candidates should have a strong academic background and demonstrate a genuine interest in technology. We are looking for people who are logical, critical thinkers, who enjoy tackling different problems in a structured way without stifling creativity and innovation. Our consultants should be highly motivated self-starters, have great interpersonal and communication skills, integrity, and a strong desire to deliver the best possible results for our clients.

It is desirable, but not essential, that candidates have some understanding of the software development lifecycle including agile methodologies, and have some broader business experience.
