Job description

About us

Solirius Consulting delivers technical consultancy and application delivery to our clients in order to solve real world problems and allow our clients to respond to an ever-changing technical landscape. We partner closely with our clients, embedding our consultants into their businesses in order to provide a bespoke service, allowing us to truly understand our clients’ needs.

It is this close collaboration with our clients that has enabled us to grow rapidly in recent years and will drive our ambitious future growth plans. We currently have over 250 consultants working with a variety of key clients from both the public and private sectors such as the Ministry of Justice, Department for Education, FCDOS, UEFA, International Olympic Committee and Mercedes Benz; with plans to increase our client base further in the near future.

We operate as a flat organisation and believe in trusting and supporting our team to operate independently. We pride ourselves on being specialists at what we do, making the most of our consultants’ expertise in their fields in order to provide a best-in-class service to our clients. All our consultants have the opportunity to work on a range of different projects, providing a broad range of knowledge on which to develop their careers and progress in the direction they choose.

The role

Candidates should have a strong academic background and demonstrate a genuine interest

in technology. We are looking for people who are logical, critical thinkers, who enjoy tackling

different problems in a structured way without stifling creativity and innovation. Our

consultants should be highly motivated self starters, have great interpersonal and

communication skills, integrity and a strong desire to deliver the best possible solutions for

our clients.

We find that our UX consultants in the highest demand have a very broad knowledge base,

and at least some experience of all areas (but likely to have specialist knowledge in one or

two). We recognise that graduates may not yet know where they want to specialise, but we

would want our graduates to experience a broad range of activities and then hone in on the

areas that suit their interests and skills. For UX Consultants, these areas include:

  • High level strategy: Understanding a business and their goals, then helping them to build a digital strategy.

  • Understanding user needs: Working closely with stakeholders and users to get insight into their requirements and behaviour. Using research and testing methods, coupled with analytics & data to gain insights.

  • Designing great products: Using insight and our experience to craft fantastic and intuitive digital experiences.

Candidates should be open to working in different locations for different clients. Although

most of our work is in London, candidates should be happy to travel as client needs dictate.

Main Duties:

  • Understanding user needs and client stakeholder requirements through workshops, interviews and other research techniques.

  • Mapping user journeys, flows and business processes.

  • Developing user profiles, personas and developing agile user stories.

  • Defining information architecture and designing content.

  • Developing and iterating wireframes and prototypes to test with users and validate product decision making.

  • Using user / customer data (web analytics, user research, surveys) to pull out insights and finding ways to creatively, but concisely communicate these to project teams and client stakeholders

  • Helping with internal projects and practice development

Typically, you will work on a particular project for 6-12 months before moving onto a new challenge. You will be part of a larger team, working with and learning from experienced consultants. As a UX consultant within the Business Consulting practice, naturally you will work closely with our clients, helping to ensure that the project delivers great outcomes.

Specialist skills required:

  • A good quality degree or relevant professional qualification / relevant experience through an internship or online course

  • Genuine interest in human-centred technology, either via chosen degree or other means

  • The ability to take a pragmatic design approach and work within constraints (time, budget, context) to ensure the best outcome for user and client alike.

  • Problem solving and analytical skills

  • Some understanding of the digital development processes

  • Willingness to continually learn

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken word with an ability to successfully engage with team members and clients

  • Awareness of project delivery and agile methodologies is desirable, but not essential

  • A portfolio demonstrating experience in the field of design is desirable, but not essential

  • Other, broader business experience is desirable, but not essential

  • Other science/technology experience is desirable but not essential

Package and benefits:

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience

  • 25 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays

  • Flexibility to work from home

  • 10 days allocated development training per year

  • Generous discretionary bonus

  • Statutory & Contributory pension

  • Free gym membership

  • Annual Away days

  • Regular company socials
