Insights from Tech Show London
On 4th March 2026, Solirius Reply sent a contingent to Tech Show London at ExCeL. This provided the opportunity for the DevOps capability to meet companies, attend talks, and see where the industry is heading. The focus areas were:
Cloud & AI World - enterprise AI adoption, data analytics, and machine learning.
Cloud & AI Infrastructure - next-generation compute, networking, and storage.
Cloud & Cyber Security - threat intelligence, cloud security tooling, and data protection.
Data Centre World - high-density infrastructure and power efficiency for the AI revolution.
DevOps Live - delivery pipelines, automation platforms, and developer efficiency tools.
After a strong coffee, the team headed straight for the main stage, where mathematician Professor Hannah Fry and broadcaster Louis Theroux opened the event to a packed entrance. With their distinctive humour, both explored AI's impact on technology and on society: how it might change education, how it could support or hinder people grieving a loved one, and what it may be capable of alongside developments such as quantum computing. AI is now a reality, but its full impact is still poorly understood, and Fry was reluctant to predict where it will lead.
Sticking with the AI theme, we went to see how it applies to DevOps. Harness gave a keynote titled "AI for Everything After Code: Ship Fast, Stay Safe". It set out how developers can build a 'golden path' with reliability and security baked in from code to production. Through context-aware orchestration, automated security remediation, and SLO-driven reliability, developers can keep their autonomy within organisational guardrails. They also showed a sense of humour with a whack-a-mole game using the Jenkins logo.
Next was a frank conversation with Chris Slowe, Reddit's CTO and founding engineer, who made three points.
On scale: to last decades, Reddit had to move from a fragile codebase to resilient, community-scale infrastructure.
On AI and search: Reddit's core asset is authentic human conversation. As search shifts from navigating raw links to interpreting that conversation, the company is licensing data to train LLMs and adapting its infrastructure for natural language search.
On resilience: changes must not be so complex that they slow developers down, while security stays strict enough to protect users and keep the platform up.
The team then explored the booths. It was an educational day, showing both the benefits AI can bring and the responsibility that comes with making it secure and safe for the future of DevOps.
